Bereavement
Family and Bereavement Care Service
The aim of the service provided is to offer individuals or family groups the opportunity to explore troubling thoughts and feelings, and promote inner comfort.
Family Care
Patients and family members are assessed and referred by staff on the In-patient and Day Therapy units. Psychosocial support / counselling sessions are usually offered weekly. However on the in-patient unit this may be more often, just for the duration of their stay.
Bereavement Care
The bereavement service is available to all the partners and families of patients who were known to the Hospice and Macmillan Teams. Staff will communicate and complete a referral / assessment form, and contact will be made from the service unless ‘no contact’ is requested. Support is offered though correspondence and telephone contact, and our team of bereavement visitors provide individual support either in client’s homes or here at the hospice.
