Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy in palliative care is involved in the rehabilitation of patients, to maximise the quality of life and to restore some independence, thus to enable a person to function to the best of their ability. Patients are assessed by the physiotherapist as part of the Hospice team by listening, examination and discussion.
Localised pain management
Heat, cold, positioning and movement, exercise and Tens Machines.
Mobility
To find the best way to actively re-adapt their mobility, by teaching skills and providing acceptable aids such as walking sticks, shoppers and wheelchairs which can be provided by Health Equipment Loan Store and our store. Advice can be given on buying one’s own. Patients and carers will be taught to use them safely.
Relief of breathing problems
By teaching ways to cope with breathlessness, panic attacks and chest infections.
